Omaha in High Stakes Poker Season 5

PPPPoker.com has just posted about High Stakes Poker Season 5, and according to GSN Board Member Michael Zeisser there will be no more No-Limit Texas Hold’em on the show.

I believe this will mean we won’t be seeing Mr. Jamie Gold on the next HSP season. Who can we expect? Sam Farha is obviously a huge Omaha player, but so are Daniel Negreanu, David Benyamine, ….

This should prove to be excellent tv, though…

Both Sam Farha and Jamie Gold feel like they’re playing like a genius pre-flop (which I believe they both are, this is superstar poker by both of them, rightfully thinking they have the best hand) – but it’s cold deck for Jamie. From the turn on, Jamie realizes he might be up against AA and he manages to push Sammy off of his game and save some money that was going in anyway.

This is the strength of Jamie Gold. Played this great.

I mean, Jamie Gold being honest. In this game — he was a donk compared to the competition. Jamie needs cashgame practice — and he knows it. He had fun, lost a couple hundred thousand… But he had fun!

Jamie and Patrick Antonius do a $750K tango

I like how Jamie played this hand for most of the time. The pre-flop re-raise is a good play — so is the speech. Patrick’s AJ call is logical, but he sure is behind…

He should have bet more than 15k on the flop, as Gabe said — I suggest a $30k bet.

The turn brings disaster for Jamie when he makes his set (and Patrick makes his gutshot) — the raise on the turn by Jamie isn’t unlogical — and the all-in isn’t a bad play…

Luckily for Patrick they ran it 3 times — lucky Jamie!
