NUGGETS FROM THE WORLD OF RESIDENTIAL DESIGN
Expert Hurricane Tips For New At-Risk Homeowners

When I moved to Tampa in 2002, I had no first-hand experience with hurricanes. Two years later, I was sitting nervously at my kitchen table with flashlight, battery-powered radio and an emergency supplies kit close at hand as cat 4 level Hurricane Charley bore down on our region. At the last minute, it turned south and walloped the Punta Gorda area south of us. Since that scary time, I’ve left Florida and more than 5.7 million people have arrived. Some of them came from states with no hurricane activity. This post is for them! And it may serve as a refresher with some relevant insurance pointers they may also want to consider.
