NUGGETS FROM THE WORLD OF RESIDENTIAL DESIGN

I wrote this article on creating serene spaces at home for the San Diego Union-Tribune three and a half years ago. With the tragedy of two mass shootings this past weekend, and another one the previous weekend, and so much political negativity in our information ecosphere, I thought it was important to share it again. There’s a feeling of mass anxiety permeating society right now. I feel it. Maybe you do, too. Maybe this can help just a little.

Creating serene spaces at home turns your “castle” into your “sanctuary” from the world’s chaos. Never has that seemed more important. It’s not the only strategy, for sure. Being in nature, being active and eating well can all contribute to improved well-being. But your home space counts, too. Here are some ideas on creating serenity where you live.
