GOLD NOTES

NUGGETS FROM THE WORLD OF RESIDENTIAL DESIGN
Wellness Benefits of Home Saunas and Steam Showers

I’ve enjoyed using steam showers and saunas at spas and would love to have one in my forever home. If you’ve been curious about adding one (or both) to yours, you’ll want to check out my latest Forbes.com article on the topic. Either of these wellness amenities can enhance your health and resale value.

The three experts I interviewed for the article will be guests on today’s Clubhouse WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS session too. You can tune in here at 4 pm ET / 1 pm PT.

You might be surprised to see Ukraine in the tags. What the heck does that have to do with this??? Well, it turns out that Ukrainians, like many other Europeans, have a strong sauna tradition. And it turns out that there are charities donating saunas to the war-torn country to help refugees and soldiers cope with their challenges. As one of the donors pointed out — and this is one of my favorite lines of 2023 so far, “There is no war in sauna!” (If I eventually get one for my place, I’m going to have a plaque made with that quotation!)

SPECIAL BOOK PREVIEW!

Wellness by Design book bonus chapter promo

When I wrote my latest book and sent in the final manuscript, I had no idea that a pandemic was going to be hitting us in a matter of weeks. (Wellness by Design published in September 2020 when we were deep into it.)

We’ve experienced a great deal of national crises in the three years since  – including some of the worst wildfires and hurricanes – so I thought a bonus chapter would be helpful for readers.

If you have your copy of the book already, you know that there’s a URL for bonus resources on my website. That’s where the bonus chapter, (working title: Lessons for Today’s Homeowners), will publish in late October.

I’ll keep you posted.
