NUGGETS FROM THE WORLD OF RESIDENTIAL DESIGN
What’s Hot in Kitchen & Bath Surfaces for 2021

It’s probably not surprising that Covid has had an impact on the choices we make in cabinetry, appliances, countertops, floor and wall, and the other finishes we have in our homes. This is especially true in kitchens and bathrooms, where low maintenance and comfort are key. The finishes you select can have a tremendous impact on both! My latest Trend Spotting for Kitchen & Bath Design News shares what design industry pros are specifying coast to coast for their residential clients. Their choices might inform yours. Either way, there’s lots of inspirational eye candy for aficionados too.

Easy-care, durable engineered quartz is still a popular choice for countertops.

TRADE BUZZ

Are you a home builder or developer? If so, I have new wellness design Builder Programs that can help you be more successful in 2021 and beyond! You can read more about them here — and schedule a FREE 20-minute consultation call here.

Are you a Twitter user? If so, don’t miss the sponsored KBtribechat conversation I’ll be hosting with Amba Products on the Wellness Benefits of Bathroom Warmth. This will take place on Wednesday, 3/17, from 2 PM EST/11 AM PST for an hour. You can find it on the @KBtribechat Twitter wall and join in by responding to the questions with the #KBtribechat hashtag.

Are you on Clubhouse yet? If so, please join the conversation in my first event. I’ll be co-hosting Wellness Trends in the Kitchen & Bath with editor extraordinaire Janice Costa of the KB Designers Network. Janice was my editor for six-plus years at Kitchen & Bath Design News. She used her phenomenal industry knowledge and contacts built over more than a quarter century to create an innovative new online industry resource!

I recently converted my in-person WELLNESS MARKET presentation to a virtual format and shared it on Zoom last week for 50 kitchen and bath professionals. Here’s what the organizer shared about that talk:  “As the President of the Virginia State Chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association & the CEO of Designs by Ebony, LLC, I am writing to give my professional recommendation for Jamie Gold, CKD, CAPS, MCCWC. Jamie was able to present virtually to a large group of our association members and the feedback we received was outstanding! The CEU was engaging and thoughtfully put together. She did a wonderful job talking about wellness and many of those attending already owned a copy of Jamie’s new book. Those who did not yet were anxious to get their copy as soon as possible. Jamie is an absolute professional in the industry and we appreciate all that she does.” — Ebony Stephenson, CLIPP, CAPS.

If you’re an NKBA chapter officer, or an officer of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, NAHB Remodeler’s Council, American Institute of Architects or another trade/professional organization, feel free to reach out to me for a special, limited-time Zoom rate. This program can help your members, whether B2B or B2C, specifiers or suppliers, increase their sales and profitability in 2021 and beyond.

PERSONAL BUZZ

I was delighted to share my thoughts on getting vaccinated with AARP. As you may recall from a painful Food for Thought post I wrote late last year, I had to postpone my 2020 Kilimanjaro trek because of the pandemic. I’m glad I’m closer to making it happen this year. Getting vaccinated against Covid will definitely help! I was tickled that the writer included this photo from my Mt. Whitney trek.

PS: I’m always grateful for glowing reviews of my books. You can find them on Goodreads and Amazon. (I’d greatly appreciate your reviews too! Here’s a downloadable form to quickly and easily write one you can copy/paste onto your favorite book sites.)
